With that said, here are the top five (in no particular order!)…
1. Mexico City
We previously entered this nation back in 2017, so normally, in the wake of seeing what it brings to the table picking it as our #1 choice was simple. At the end of the day, same difference either way. At the point when the vast majority consider Mexican culture, many consider tacos and margaritas; nonetheless, when you really go down the way of history like me, you will track down significantly more social variety. From design, workmanship, food, music, and religion, Mexico has got everything. Actually, on the off chance that you're keen on investigating essentially every part of the state, then I would propose going to Tulum Oceanside Hotel and Spa. There's something for everybody, from the individuals who need to learn Spanish to the courageous explorer who needs to encounter all that Mexico brings to the table. Just to put the good to beat all, when you show up at the air terminal - which can undoubtedly be organized anyplace - you'll have the option to walk directly to the ocean side (with a little assistance from local people) where you'll likewise experience lovely sea shores and the popular Blue Tidal pond, ideal for swimming. Goodness, and did I specify you can likewise shop here? Our aide contains a few extraordinary tips on shopping in Mexico. Hopefully to see you on your next Mexico City get-away 😉
2. Santorini
Many people think that Greece is their #1 choice when it comes to visiting the Mediterranean nations, but I don’t think so. That honor belongs to Santorini…so let’s start there! We entered Santorini in 2018 and, although it is absolutely packed with historical sites and historic landmarks, it is home to fantastic beaches, awesome bars, delicious restaurants, lovely boutiques, unique shops and boutiques, picturesque views, and a plethora of stunning sunsets along its ancient coastline. Besides the sand, Santorini also boasts one of the world’s most popular hiking trails; meanwhile, its charming capital is bursting at the seams, boasting gorgeous buildings, museums, excellent eateries, and lots of activities for adults and kids alike.
If you’re wondering if Santorini would be a good place for families, you needn’t worry! You can do everything possible during your stay including visiting the ruins, walking through centuries-old streets, climbing Mount Etna, snorkeling in local fountains, playing board games, checking out local markets, and indulging in street food. If nothing else, make sure you soak in the atmosphere of Saint Sophia & Stoa Diompho – both beautiful churches built over 1,000 years ago. We recommend taking it inside because the Greek government doesn’t allow tourists to climb onto the dome – something we personally didn’t do. However, you could always climb atop the church dome! It probably wouldn’t hurt to put that off for you though, right? Alright, now that you know how wonderful Santorini is and why it’s made my number one, let’s move on to Athens!
3. Athens
The city of Athens isn’t exactly known worldwide as a hip summer escape, but truthfully if you get the chance, you wouldn’t regret it! Although the weather is not ideal during the peak season, the city still manages to boast many amazing attractions and is considered the second-best tourist destination in Europe (after Rome). One of our favorites is Syntagma Square, the heart of Ancient Greece with countless statues, monuments, pools, cafes, restaurants, restaurants, galleries, and shops. Also, when looking for places to eat, try out Kavalei, which serves authentic salads served with olive oil and fresh herbs. Located close to Syntagma Square is Kolonaki Restaurant – a bustling spot serving traditional plates of dishes such as lamb chop and roasted chickpea stew. Lastly, you can also take in spectacular sunset views along Omonos Beach or hike the Acropolis Trail near Dionysus Temple – both of which are UNESCO Sites. All of these sights and more, plus tons of options for accommodation nearby, make a dreamy journey all the way to Athens, making it one of the top-rated places to visit.
4. Bali
One of the things that makes Bali special is that it has an entire subculture comprised of outsiders who live among tourists. Known as Balinese men and women, these folks are typically young Westerners who come to enjoy themselves – often without knowing much about Indonesian culture. These folk are drawn to exotic nature, waterfalls, lush rainforests, the sounds of wildlife (such as cicadas), friendly hosts, and cheap flights, despite the high price tag (it costs less than $25 from many Asian countries). Unfortunately, due to limited resources, this is one of the least welcoming and ecologically conscious spots you’ll ever visit – and that’s just for foreigners. Luckily, there are still plenty of awesome eco-retreats scattered throughout Bali, but don’t feel discouraged; many of these locations cost a small fortune, but you can still affordably treat yourself. At the center of Bali lies Seminyak National Park – which is particularly well-known for hosting impressive limestone caves. On the outskirts of Seminyak is Purnama Wetland Reserve, offering visitors various opportunities for bird watching, scuba diving, kayaking, and visits to lagoons. Finally, Ubud and Ngurung Kulom are renowned for their enchanting temples, exquisite architecture, lush greenery, and warm hospitality. All of these offerings will make your life in Bali significantly better – and you should definitely plan to spend a few days in Bali!
5. Canada
Canada is very similar to Australia in terms of scenery – aside from the size differences (Canada is almost three times bigger than Australia – and, thanks to its expansive geography, it encompasses quite a bit more). Unlike Australia, however, Canada has access to an abundance of nature. Sure, some of it is pretty extreme (like having to trek across Canada, rather than a plane!), but we would say Canadians are generally kinder than Australians, and often provide helpful information upon arrival, too. Also, unlike Australia, Canadian summers are warmer, whereas Australia tends to be cooler in summer. Since we stayed in Vancouver Island after passing through Hawaii, it was inevitable that Toronto became our third choice for the year. Despite living between British Columbia and Manitoba, Canada offers travelers several distinct climates for their adventures – ranging from chilly cold winters to temperate temps. Yes, yes, you read that correctly! Aside from being one of the cheapest countries to visit, it also has one of the coolest cuisines. Alongside the obvious French fries, maple syrup, french bread, and baguettes are other tasty treats as well. Needless to say, this is a good reason to head across the border and book a hotel in Ontario.
